ICU Defender Security Film
Stand up to them All.
Defender Security Film helps reinforce glass against a range of threats, including break-ins, forced access, explosions, and active-shooter incidents. This versatile window-film system combines safety and security protection with solar-control benefits.
Applied directly to existing glass doors and windows, the film is virtually invisible and maintains the appearance of your property. At the same time, it strengthens vulnerable glass surfaces to create a more durable protective layer. Defender Security Film is available in three protection levels.
*For optimal ballistic protection, Defender Security Film is tested for use on glass that is 3/8 inch thick or more. Thinner glass may not provide the same level of resistance to bullet penetration*
Proven
Defender Security Film is available in Level I, Level II, and Level III options. Each level has been independently tested by NTS laboratories accredited by NVLAP and A2LA and meets rigorous UL 752 ballistic-resistance standards.
Beyond added protection, all three options offer energy-saving benefits, block up to 98%98\%98% of UV rays, help strengthen glass during severe weather, and resist chemical exposure.
Custom
Every building has different security needs, which is why we provide customized protection solutions. We assess your property, anticipated risks, and security priorities to recommend the right fit for your space.
With three distinct levels of protection available, Defender Security Film helps address a broad range of safety and security concerns.
Undetectable
Defender Security Film provides added protection without changing the look of your building. Its clear, low-profile design offers a more attractive alternative to metal bars or grilles, helping maintain your property’s appearance while making it harder for potential intruders to identify vulnerable entry points.
Versatile
Level I: Helps resist forced entry and controls broken glass from smash-and-break incidents.
Level II: Provides enhanced protection for homes and businesses against aggressive forced entry and blast-related impacts, including those from pipe bombs and similar explosive devices.
Level III: Offers the highest level of protection, helping resist impacts from 9 mm, .40 S&W, and 45 ACP handgun fire, as well as extreme forced-entry and blast-force events.
“A+ Rated Protection. Uncompromising Security.”
As more companies enter the window-protection industry, not every product labeled “security film” delivers the same level of performance. At ICU, we take your safety seriously.
As a veteran-owned business, we bring professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail to every project. Our goal is to help you choose genuine protection for your home, business, and the people who matter most.
When it comes to security, you deserve nothing less than the Clear Truth.
Not all security films offer the same level of reinforcement. ICU Defender 141414-mil Security Film is 75%75\%75% thicker than standard 888-mil security film, which can provide greater strength and improved resistance to forced-entry attempts.
Think of it like plywood: a 1/41/41/4-inch sheet and a 3/43/43/4-inch sheet may look similar, but the thicker material offers substantially more durability. The same principle applies to window film—greater thickness can help glass better withstand repeated impacts and may delay unauthorized entry.
The actual performance of a security film depends on several factors, including the glass thickness, installation method, attachment system, type of impact, and amount of force used. Be cautious of broad claims about exactly how long a particular film will resist an attack; real-world results can vary significantly.
With ICU Defender 141414-mil Security Film, you receive a more robust layer of protection designed to help give occupants more time to respond during a forced-entry event.
Glass varies widely in thickness, construction, and overall strength. Adding film to standard 1/41/41/4-inch glass does not automatically make it capable of stopping handgun fire. Some performance tests may use multiple layers of glass assembled together, which may not reflect the construction of a typical single-pane door or window.
At ICU, we measure your existing glass with specialized equipment to identify its thickness and characteristics. This allows us to recommend security-film options based on your actual glass—not assumptions—so you can make an informed decision about the protection that best fits your needs.
Not every security film is designed to be layered. When incompatible films are combined or installed incorrectly, they may develop a cloudy or uneven appearance, fail to bond properly, and deliver less protection than intended. Proper layering requires compatible materials, suitable glass, and precise installation.
When the glass and project requirements are appropriate, ICU Defender Security Film can be professionally layered to provide enhanced resistance against serious forced-entry and impact threats. We evaluate the glass first, then recommend the best system for the level of protection you need.
ICU offers three layered protection options:
Level I — Intrusion Protection: Designed to help deter forced entry and manage broken glass.
Level II — High-Level Threat Protection: Provides increased resistance for more aggressive impact and entry threats.
Level III — Extreme Threat Protection: Our highest protection option, designed for qualifying glass configurations and capable of enhanced resistance to certain handgun-fire threats, subject to the tested system and installation specifications.
No security film should be described as “bulletproof.” No material is guaranteed to stop every type of projectile under every condition. Actual ballistic performance depends on factors such as the firearm, ammunition caliber and construction, glass type and thickness, film configuration, and installation method.
Materials such as polycarbonate and glass-polycarbonate systems are commonly used in purpose-built bullet-resistant glazing. When ICU Defender Security Film is professionally layered on qualifying glass that is at least 3/8 inch thick, it may enhance the glass’s resistance to specified handgun-fire threats, based on the tested system configuration and applicable performance standards.
Professional installation plays a major role in how security film looks, lasts, and performs. Proper application helps preserve clarity, create a secure bond, and ensure the film performs as intended.
ICU’s experienced in-house installation teams have applied millions of square feet of ICU Defender Security Film in a wide range of environments—from Arizona’s extreme heat to cold temperatures, humid regions, and dry climates. We also work with many types of glass, including varying thicknesses and conditions.
We do not subcontract our installations. Our directly employed team uses specialized techniques tailored to the glass, film system, and conditions at each property. Installing security film requires more than standard window-tint application; it demands the right preparation, pressure, attachment methods, and attention to detail for every project.
Safety and security are important investments, but every client also has a budget to consider.
At ICU, we understand that protecting your home or business needs to be both effective and financially realistic. Our goal is to provide a high-quality security-film system, professional installation, and dependable service at a fair, competitive value.
The lowest price is not always the best value—especially when performance, installation quality, and long-term durability matter. ICU Defender Security Film may not be the least expensive option, but we focus on delivering protection you can trust, installed with the care, professionalism, and attention to detail your property deserves.
Security needs are not one-size-fits-all, and selecting a security-film provider based on price alone may not deliver the best value or the right level of protection for your property.
Every client’s situation is different, but the goal is the same: helping protect the people who matter most—whether that is your family, employees, students, faculty, or customers—within a realistic budget.
ICU Defender Security Film is not a complete security solution on its own. However, when properly specified and professionally installed, it can help reinforce glass in locked doors and windows, hold broken glass together, and delay forced-entry attempts. That added time and distance can support evacuation, lockdown, and emergency response during a critical event.
Actual performance depends on the glass, film configuration, attachment system, installation quality, and the type and force of the attack. When every second matters, selecting the right security-film system matters too.
